The Dutch lottery issues a warning about taking legal action against the “biggest illegal gambling site”

(AsiaGameHub) –   Nederlandse Loterij has stated it will employ all legal avenues to counter what it considers illegal competition from unlicensed gambling operations.

The Netherlands.- The national lottery operator of the Netherlands, Nederlandse Loterij, has revealed its intention to initiate legal action against Qbet and its related entities. It has labeled the brand as “the biggest illegal gambling site” focusing on Dutch customers.

Nederlandse Loterij stated it aims to utilize every legal tool at its disposal to take apart Qbet and the broader network supporting it. Qbet is run by Novatech, the same company that operates 55Bet. In the previous month, the Dutch gambling authority, Kansspelautoriteit, imposed a record €24 million fine on the operator for alleged repeated regulatory violations.

Although it is uncommon for a licensed gambling operator, as opposed to a regulator, to sue a black-market rival, Nederlandse Loterij established a precedent last year by filing a groundbreaking case against Lalabet. That case is currently under review in The Hague.

Novatech possesses a license from the autonomous Dutch Caribbean territory of Curaçao. It was recently issued a ban in Sweden.

Clarifying the company’s position, Arjan Blok, Chief Executive Officer of Nederlandse Loterij, commented: “Players can still easily access illegal gambling sites, which lack age verification and betting limits and offer irresponsible bonuses and deceptive payment methods: 200,000 Dutch individuals are gambling on these illegal platforms. It is exactly these players who face the highest risks, as they gamble more frequently and with larger sums on illegal sites.

“This is why Nederlandse Loterij is assuming responsibility and bringing the largest illegal gambling site to court. We are targeting not just the direct violator, but also all those behind it who enable this site.”
